Islam: Sir Winston Churchill’s view on Mohammedanism, the Islam religion

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Did Churchill see it coming?
Sir Winston Churchill was one of the greatest men of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.   He was a statesman.    He was a decorated combat veteran Army officer (Middle East, the current Pakistan area, and Africa, the Sudan and Egypt), a politician (advancing to Prime Minister of Britain), an artist (a respected artist), an author (receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature), and finally, an honorary citizen of the United States of America.

So, Churchill had extensive experience with the Arab world, and particularly the religion of Islam.  He resigned from the Army, and to promote his latest book written in 1899 and, of course his political career, he began a speaking tour of Britain, followed by tours of the United States and Canada.  Of his many speaking engagements, the basis for his remarks on Islam were words from his book, expressed in the wonderful Churchillian turn of phrase and use of the English language (dust-off your dictionary), of which he was a past master.

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries (see “votary” in the dictionary)!   Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia (i.e., same as rabies) in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule, or live.   A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity.

The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.   No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.

It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step;  and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.

Was Churchill right?

Yes, as we see in current times where we have many examples of the same analysis from political and military leaders since Churchill’s analysis over a century ago in time, the below link is one minute and forty-five seconds (1 ¾ minute) video that succinctly captures the driving force behind terrorism in our current world situation, particularly as it would involve the United States.

As with Churchill, Mr. Allen West also has experience in the Arab world (Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan), and therefore, the religion of Islam.   He was a military officer, an officer in the U.S. Army (Lieutenant Colonel), and was also a decorated combat veteran.  As with Churchill, he also resigned from the Army, and his political career began when he was elected to Congress in 2010.   As you will see, he has a grasp and an understanding of history.

In the above video clip, West references the Koran, the Sunnah (he used the word sura, but meant Sunnah), and the Hadith.  For further information:

100+ years later, where are we?

Sir Winston Churchill and Rep. Allen West are addressing major concerns, in different words, so we need to analyze the really “key” problems:

  1. In Islam, as I cover in my book, there is no separation between religion and state, and therefore, any economy (except oil states) where Islam is in political control is in trouble.  The reason is that this doctrine does not embrace the capitalistic economic system.   They are welded together, and any legal system is replaced with Shar’ia Law.   As a result, there is no chance for economic growth necessary to cure any unemployment issues, or quality of life issues.   [Of course, power brokers use the resulting unrest to stoke the fire against Western Civilization, as you will see in the Hamas explanation and the video after point # 3 below.]
(a.) The Qur’an forbids collecting interest on loans (usury) that is necessary to seed modern banking, and seed capital markets.
(b.) The legal system, developed from the doctrine of the Qur’an, does not permit a legal entity such as a corporation; therefore, a business cannot raise capital to limit an investor’s liability to their investment.   There is no vehicle to allow for the formation of capital for either an existing business or a new business to fuel an economy.
(c.) The legal framework does not exist for a uniform system of property rights where the economic feature is decoupled from an asset by the use of deeds, titles, and stock shares or bond certificates necessary to transform assets into capital for further investment, or to purchase assets through the use of debt.
  2. Again, as I explain in my book, it is unmistakable that the Qur’an teaches that Islam’s “mission” is to bring all people, the entire world, under the discipline of the Qur’an’s teachings, saving humankind from its sinfulness.   Through this radicalism (which is way beyond fundamentalism), their leaders truly believe they can legislate goodness, righteousness.  (Girls and Boys, this is very key point – don’t miss it.)
By contrast, the teaching of Jesus, and therefore the mission of his followers, is far different: it is to change a person’s heart.  Huge difference!
  3. We are constantly reminded that the Qur’an (as well the Sunnah and the Hadith) is taken out of context by extremists, and there is no doubt that, in many cases, this is correct.    However, their political and religious leader’s offense to counter this charge is only “that” (meaning, merely mentioning this issue without either explanation or  justification, and adding that Muslims are ‘misunderstood”) rather than doing something about the problem.

The litmus test for any leader in the Islam sphere of influence, political leaders and Islamic clergy (whether Arab or not), is whether or not they will condemn the Palestinian Islamist political organization Hamas which governs Gaza.   This is the one organization that is really the center piece of the Jihadist movement.   The term jihad is used by Islamic organizations, although not the correct meaning, as “holy war.”

If mainstream Muslims truly want peace and truly want to “do something about the problem,” then all the leaders (political and religious) must publicly condemn Hamas (and all other such terrorists’ organizations).   Thence, the governments from other Islam countries need to take-out those organizations through military/police operations.

Without this condemnation and this removal of the terrorists organizations (and prosecution of their leaders) by other Islam countries, Islam will always be a threat via extremists, and Western Civilization will always be at risk.

The teachings in Arab countries …are chilling

This video was originally presented to the UN Human Rights Commission, Geneva, on September 28, 2010.

This video, consisting of translated clips from Arab TV, is chilling.   It is difficult to watch, and gets harder as it progresses.   Some of it would seem ridiculous, and even funny, if we didn’t know that these people are deadly serious.

Notice the theme and titles of the individuals in each clip.

Ladies and Gentlemen, unless this situation gets under control by their own leaders around the world, we will have further nightmare stories of Western Civilization assimilating these people (particular new converts) into our mist.

By way of example, the nightmare stories, such as France, where Paris has lost control of Muslim city neighborhoods where fear reigns, and neither policemen nor firemen nor ambulance emergency units will enter.   Furthermore, these same citizens are gaining traction in their political system with the long-range goal of gaining control.

======================================

Hamas (an acronym for the Arabic words “Islamic Resistant Movement”) was an offshoot of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in 1987.   The proper name is The Society of the Muslim Brothers, and it was founded in 1928 in Egypt.   The group is the world’s oldest and largest Islamic political group, and the “world’s most influential Islamist movement.”    The Brotherhood’s stated goal is to instill the Qur’an and Sunnah as the “sole reference point for … ordering the life of the Muslim family, individual, community, … and state.”

[By the way, please take note that The Society of the Muslim Brothers, the “world’s most influential Islamist movement,” issued a Declaration of War against the United States, the West (I assume this is Western Civilization), Christians, and Jews in September 2010.  (Source: Barry Rubin, Director, Global Research in International Affairs Center; October 7, 2010)]

Sheik Ahmed Yassin declared in 1987 that Hamas was founded for the purpose of Jihad, to liberate Palestine from Israeli oppression, and to establish an Islamic state “from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River.”

Hamas is classified as a major terrorist organization by all non-Islamic governments; i.e., all countries from the European Union to Japan, from Iceland to Australia.    And it is brutal; i.e., suicide bombings (using women and, in cases, children as well as men), Israel rockets attacks, extreme torture and death to any suspected Palestinian collaborators, et cetera.   Hamas’ 1988 Charter calls for replacing the State of Israel with a Palestinian Islamic state in the area that is now Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.   Their Charter identifies the conflict as a “struggle against the Jews.”

The Charter also asserts that through shrewd manipulation of imperial countries and secret societies, Zionists were behind a wide range of events, and disasters, going as far back in history as the French Revolution.    Among the charter’s controversial statements is the following: “The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews [and kill them];  until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: Oh Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!”    The document also quotes Islamic religious texts (the Koran, the Sunnah, the Hadith) to provide justification for fighting against, and killing, Jews.

As to the litmus test, notice the lack of either (^) sermons from the pulpit in Arab states or (^) any effort to dismantle this organization by the surrounding Arab states or (^) any marketing for formal education (lower schools as well as at the university level) to condemn these teachings with the young or (^) widely publicized written documents of any kind that correct and dispel any misuse of religious text (Koran, Sunnah, or Hadith) utilized to justify organizations such as Hamas.

Make no mistake: this be the center piece of their ongoing military effort (including guerrilla and terrorist tactics), and political effort (including judicial, social, and elective offices) throughout the world.    This includes the United States, whether it be Portland or Little Rock, whether Kalamazoo or Tucson.

In addition, it serves as an example for all Muslims, any denomination, that their role, as I explain in my book, is to bring the entire world under ALLAH’s dominion, and therefore, the discipline of the Koran’s (or Qur’an) teachings.    The Islam religion and the State are one – they are to have total control.

Islam: This is Ramadan

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Ramadan (also Ramadhan, or Ramadaan) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and the name “Ramadan” has been the name of the ninth month in Arabian Culture long before the arrival of Islam.

The word itself denoting intense heat, scorched ground, and shortness of rations.  In the Qur’an (known as the “Koran” in English), God (Arabic: ALLAH), proclaims that “fasting has been written down (as obligatory) upon you, as it was upon those before you.”  According to the earliest hadith (which is an appendix to the Qur’an of Muhammad’s sayings and deeds), this refers to the Jewish practice of fasting on Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement, a day of prayer for atonement and repentance).

However, this is the month when Muhammad received his initial revelation.  From the Qur’an, we have this verse.

Ramadan is the month in which was sent down the Qur’an as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong).  So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later.  Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties.  (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.

Ayah 185, Sura 2 (Al-Baqara), translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali

[Notes to explain. "Ayah" is the Arabic word for sign, or miracle, in that Muslims regard each ayah as a sign from Allah, and therefore, the word refers to each one of the 6,236 verses found in the Qur’an.  A "Sura" (also spelled Surah) is a chapter of the Qur’an.  There are 114 Suras in the Qur'an. The shortest Surah (Al-Kawthar) has only three ayah (verses) while the longest (Al-Baqara, this one) contains 287 ayah (verses).  So, in Judeo/Christian language, this is the 185th verse in the Al-Barqara Chapter of the Koran.]

Aside from the five-times-daily prayer, fasting during the month of Ramadan is the most visible and recognizable of Muslim acts the world over.  Like other Islam traditions, fasting in Islam has its origins in Judaism and Christianity.

During the 30-odd days of Ramadan, Muslims are required to fast during daylight hours from dawn until sunset, neither food nor drink (except, water) nor smoke, and abstain from sexual pleasures.  [The very young, those who are physically ill, the elderly, and certain groups (military, out door hard labor workers, ) are excused from fasting.]  Daylight hours are those when a white thread can be distinguished from a black thread.

The purpose of fasting is to make one think, and teaches self-discipline.  Fasting sensitizes compassion (only those who have been hungry can know what hunger means), and is intended to teach Muslims about patience, humility, spirituality, and also focus on social oneness with the ummah (which means the Islamic community) across the globe.

It is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God and to offer more prayer than usual, praying for forgiveness, and praying for guidance – trying to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

Based on sight ability of the moon in North America for 2010, the dates for Ramadan are from the 12th of August until the 9th of September.  Note that in the Muslim calendar, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day (this is from Judaism), so observing Muslims will celebrate Ramadan beginning with sunset on the 10th of August.

Hilal (Arabic; meaning, the crescent, or new moon) is typically a day after the astronomical new moon, the crescent moon. Since the new moon indicates the beginning of a new month, Muslims can estimate the beginning of Ramadan.

The Islamic calendar, called the Hijri calendar, is a lunar calendar consisting of 12 lunar months in a year of either 354 or 355 days.  Although Ramadan is always on the same day of the Islamic calendar, the date on the Gregorian calendar varies from year to year, since the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar and the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar.  This difference means Ramadan moves on the Gregorian calendar approximately 11 days every year.  The date of Ramadan may also vary from country to country depending on when the moon is sighted.

Islam, Shiite: This is Ashura

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

The Day of Ashura (the word means “tenth”) is on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar.  This day falls, in 2009, on December 27th on the Gregorian calendar.

The significance of Ashura for the Shiite, or Shi’a, denomination of the Muslim religion is that it is commemorated as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Hussein at the Battle of Karbala.  Therefore, this day is of particular significance to Shi’a Muslims, who consider Hussein, the 3rd Imam, and the rightful successor of Muhammad.  To explain: Ali was Muhammad’s grandson, and was the closest living male relative, and therefore, his rightful successor and the leader as the 1st Iman.  Hussein was Ali’s son.

According to the 8th Imam, Ali al-Rida, the day of Ashura must be observed as a day of inactivity, sorrow, and total disregard of worldly cares.  It is a period of intense grief and mourning. Mourners congregate at their local Mosque; however, some mourners make pilgrimages to the Mashhad al-Husayn, the shrine in the city of Karbala (Iraq) that is traditionally held to be Hussein’s tomb.

On this day they are in remembrance, and mourning attire is worn.  This time is spent listening to sermons about the tragedy, and poems about the tragedy, as to how Hussein and his family were martyred.  This is accompanied by an outward expression of grief and sorrow to the tune of beating drums and chants of “Ya Hussein.”  This is intended to connect them with Hussein’s suffering and martyrdom, and the sacrifices he made to keep Islam alive.

So, Hussein’s martyrdom is widely interpreted as a symbol of the struggle against injustice, tyranny, and oppression. They believe the Battle of Karbala was fought to keep the Muslim religion untainted of any corruptions, and it was a battle between the forces of good and evil.  Imam Hussein represented good while Yazid, the other political force, represented evil — it is believed that the path that Yazid was directing Islam was definitely for his own personal greed.

Certain rituals like the traditional flagellation ritual, as a religious discipline, called “zanjeer zani” or “zanjeer matam,” involving the use of a zanjeer (a chain) are also performed.  It needs to be noted that these are not religious customs, but are popularly done to show solidarity with Imam Hussein and his family.  People mourn the fact that they were not present at the battle to fight and save Hussein, and his family.

It is believed that taking part in Ashura is to be absolved of sin.  A popular Shiite saying has it that, “a single tear shed for Hussein washes away a hundred sins.”
